I think I can – I think I can – I think I can

I think I can – I think I can – I think I can

My first foray into street performing could have gone better. It could have gone worse as well. It was really hot out there on the Las Vegas strip. Tourists and street performers alike were not interested in spending any more time outside than they had to.

I showed up out front of Bally’s to find my friend, magician Jacob, chatting with some break dancers who were also out there trying to make a buck or two. I juggled 3 balls for a bit, dropped more than I wanted due to nerves, and watched Jacob dance around with a break dancer. After an hour we left to get some air conditioning and some lunch.

I learned a few things. I learned that the desert sun feels a lot hotter when you are trying to juggle on the street. I learned that people are a lot more interested in what kind of juggling balls I use (salt-filled russians) than I thought they would be. I learned that as long as I’m out there having fun, it isn’t as scary as I thought it would be. I also learned that I have a long way to go.

We’ll see what happens next time.
